Horst Feldmann More than unexpectedly, this dialogue of floating, ticking and sawing synthesizers with guitars drilling deep into my brain fascinates me.
In my opinion the perfect symbiosis of science fiction suitable synthesizer worlds and the most wonderful metal. A rollercoaster of emotions between hypnotic electronic sounds and demanding riffs.
Wow. Favorite track: V.

The Sweetest Condition After seeing Becoming the Devourer live several times, we had to pick up this album! Super talented band. Super nice musicians!

William Nienke Wow! This is the only thing I've listened to for the last week. Really fills the void that Isis (the band) left.

I love the mix of the electronic elements with the nasty, tasty, Aaron Turner-like riffs.

Well done, sir! Favorite track: I.

"Every concert pianist knows that the surest way to ruin a performance is to be aware of what the fingers are doing. Every dancer and acrobat knows enough to let the mind go, let the body run itself. Every driver of a manual vehicle arrives at destinations with no recollection of the stops and turns and roads traveled in getting there. You are all sleepwalkers, whether climbing creative peaks or slogging through some mundane routine for the thousandth time. You are all sleepwalkers." - Peter Watts, Blindsight.

about

Last December, I had been about a year into playing guitar, and listening to a gratuitous amount of post-rock and metal, to the point where it was pretty much an all consuming habit. Wake up, listen to longform music, and want to create as much noise as I could.

So I decided to do that. Becoming The Devourer is a project that has one hard and fast rule: it must be emotionally engaging for me. It has to be my hideaway from the world. As I surrounded myself with sounds of bands like 65daysofstatic, Sumac, Neurosis, Russian Circles, Pelican, and God Is An Astronaut, I found this type of music to be more and more what was putting me into that headspace. So I started composing this album, and I am incredibly proud of where it put me, of the hard work I put into making this a good album, and of the people that I surrounded myself with in order to make this the best piece of sound I could.

So here it is. This is the product of a lot of hard work and effort. I love it, and I hope you love it. But more specifically: I want you to make this your own. I specifically left as much information out of the album as I could, leaving half of the album untitled intentionally. I don't want you to hear this colored by my experience writing the album, and I don't want to be so arrogant as to assume that the writer dictates the experience of the reader: I want you to hear this album and draw your own conclusions about what this means to you. I want you to listen to this album as if you were the author of the story behind this album.

Finally, I wrote damn near all of this album under the influence of Peter Watts' novel Blindsight. If you want a peak into the philosophy of this album, start there.

I would also recommend the audiobook, which is well worth the money, or audible credit: audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fantasy/Blindsight-Audiobook/B002V59TMM
